Sewing

I am sewing my own pantyliners and pads. Using this excellent tutorial. Really curious as to how the will work. Lots of people are raving about how much more comfortable and better for the environment they are, apparently addictive. Along with my "cup" I think it will work great. :)

Wolly

If you want any of this loveliness you will have to order an April Phat Fiber Box, or wait until I make some more full size rovings for the shop. :)

Soon!

Soon to come: self striping sock yarn!
I found a yarn that I really like, tested it thoroughly and ordered.
Four stripes of about six rows in different colours knitted over 60 st on 2,5 mm needles.
It is a bit of a tricky procedure and it takes lots of time and yarn handling but I really like it and it is fun combining colours. I will take special orders.

Walking

Making self striping yarn is an 800m walk back and forth, did you know that?

Stripes 2

Now I am getting somewhere. These samples are knitted in the round with 2,5 mm needles over 60 stitches. The left one has four stripes of about 6 rows each and the right one has three stripes of about 8 rows.
Now I just have to choose a sock yarn with the right price, feel and fiber content. I know it is lovely with cashmere and merino wool, but if you spend hours and countless stitches to make a pair of socks, I think you would like them to hold for a while, and that means a nylon content of at least 20%. And there is no point in finding a cheep yarn if it is not of quality enough so your customers (and you) like it and become returning ones. Quality is more important than price.

Stripy

Experimenting with self striping sock yarn, tricky but fun.
No, to thin stripes, do over.

Close up

I don't think I showed the bears by them selves. Here they are! Time for your close up. My favorite is the stripy one, I love her big nose. But i do love them all, and I had fun knitting them, though I am a wee bit tired of the pattern by now.

Bears!

Group picture of the "Mother Bear" Bears, before they go off to be loved by a child in need of a toy in africa.  They seem ready to go, don't they.
