Knitted commercial
Apparently it was filmed "backwards", instead of knitting each stich, the unraveled it, and then played it as "forwards".

Snowdrops!
Somehow, for me, it really says "home" to have snowdrops in the garden. There are lots of other stuff poking up as well, but I don't know what they are yet, something els than snowdrops is all I can decipher from the leaves. I'll get back to you on that one.
Now I'm going to go out and shovel away all the snow in front of the snowdrop so it can be properly admired.

Now it should work again and hopefully a more robust solution that will not magically disappear. (Web master)

New backgrounds
I was thinking of buying a new desk, now that we have moved and I have my own studio, a nice clean white one, but I don't think I can part with this one, it is such a storyteller. I think I'll have to by an additional desk instead, so I'll have twice the area to make a mess on.

We need some art today
"Theo Jansen is a Dutch artist who builds walking kinetic sculptures that he calls a new form of life. His "Strandbeests" walk the coastline of Holland, feeding on wind and fleeing from water."

Audrey Hepburn
Breakfast at Tiffany's is a totally different movie than I thought. The first thing that hit me is that the lead character, Holly, is trying to make a living of rich men, and the male lead is doing the same thing, but with rich women, they both have a sugar daddy/mama. Interesting equality. The movie is surprisingly humouristic, there is for instance a japanese character, Holly's neighbour, who is NOT played by a japanese man, very strange and funny. And I feel for the cat more than any other in this movie, I cried for the cat at the end!
Sabrina, I had seen this before, is also surprisingly humoristic, especially the french chef who pops up from under the furniture in his first scene, and the "no bananas" song in the boat. I wish I could see the colour of the flowers on her dress which is way off the shoulders and yards and yards of fabric. I always wonder what will happen after the movie is over, how will he cope with not working for the first time in his life, and, seriously, what will she do when he is old and wrinkly (wrinklier)?

Oh, and an update on the cleared deck: there were, in the sun, a few square centimetres of dry wood to walk on today.

Otto did the hoovering
I actually started cleaning today for absolutely no reason. I had to do a bit of cleaning yesterday because a deadline is approaching and I could not get into my studio, I picked stuff up and Otto did the hoovering. We were almost as synchronised as these guys.
In the Konstfack spring exhibition 2009, which I was in, there was a performance, I don't remember the artist name, but it was a small fenced in area, like you see on building sites, maybe 5x5 meters, covered in white plastic so you could not see inside or above it. But inside there was a man on a motorcycle, going round and round as fast as he could, in this small area, you knew it was a man on a motorcycle because a sign said so, but we could not see him. I liked it very much. Somehow the certainty of the noisy business and the depravation of the visual part, was reassuring and exiting in the same time for me.

Much loved Grandmothers
Inga, is in my mind in her kitchen making pancakes or some other delicious meal for all of us family, she never had the time to sit at the table her self. The round table in dark wood, green curtains and the same copper pot for the flowers, woven plastic rug on the floor. She is with me I feel her reassuring hands on my shoulders.
Gunnel, is in her country garden, green to big gumboots, a knitted sweater, the bun of her hair getting a bit frazzled, raking leafs. It smells of the wood-burning stove, of earth and the grass and the leafs. Her I can see in the path walking in front of me.
I think about there lives and my life and how I can make choices they never could. I have to make the most of the things I have, and be grateful in the choices I make.
But still, "men in general", we are not even, I am still angry, watch out!!!
