Eighties Sneaker! Right!

Tea and yarn swap

I entered another of these european swaps, this time with a tea theme. You had to send 100 g of yarn and 100 g or 20 bags of tea. This is what I received from my swap parter. 

It is a parcel glorious with colour!
The stripy yarn is form a local yarn producer in Wales, and is instantly being converted into my new winter hat with earflaps. She hand dyed the local roving here self, and it is a gorgeous variegated pink. The tea bags are twinning tea rose, smells lovely, I will have a cup of that this evening. There is also a bag of loose tea, and an infuser with a nice flower. A pretty cup cozy which is so funny because I made her one! A soap scented with tea flower, witch the whole package is smelling of. :) And a bar of earth friendly chocolate, because you have to have chocolate.

Midnight Fireworks and Lady Orange

Yarn, yarn, yarn, I know, but it is fun! I have huge batch of wool lying sorted in little bags waiting to be spun on my kitchen table. And this is Midnight Fireworks, the association is kind of obvious, and Lady Orange, named after Lady Grey tea, witch is flavoured with orange and slightly bitter. 

Snow Whites Apple

This was kind of a left over one, but it turned out lovely, and also surprisingly fluffy. I never weighted it down during drying and I think that that is what made it so springy and fluffy. Learning is fun. And also I sold something on etsy! Yay!

Bobbin For Apples

I tried to make this mix between an apple red and turquoise as random and variegated as I could. I think it came out well. This is Bobbin For Apples. 

A dark day

I have been so proud for Sweden, that we did not have a racist party with any real power, which lots of other countries in Europe has. I thought that we were above that, that we understood that all people are equals, that  diversity is a good thing, that we have to take care of ALL the people in our land. I felt so proud, I felt that this was a good country to live in. I am not so proud any more, I am ashamed for Sweden today. I am afraid that Sweden will, small step by small step, become a scary place. My belief is that a countries well being is shown in a high lowest standard. How can people vote for a fatter wallet and stupid prejudices, you have to vote for the best for Sweden, what is best for us all.

Giant Pink Gloves

Giant pink gloves for Ola now that fall is closing in. I used this pattern which is great for two reasons: 

1 - It has lots of sizes, even big enough for my husbands paddles for hands.

2 - It is made for sock yarn, which I love. I am addicted to stripy sock yarn. :)

This is what I wanted to spin all along! 100 grams of Toothpaste Twist merino! 

Cold Blue Steel

Cold blue steel, available on etsy. I bought this wool ages ago when I was trying out felting, and during the weekend when all other fiber was all spun up, I tried this out. Not bad actually, very rustic and not so soft but it looks sturdy and durable. I dyed half with food colouring (karamell färg) and made a nice two ply.

World of Wool

Wool in the mail today! I ordered from World of Wool, it took a bit more than a week to arrive, but the wool was wonderful, the colours what exactly what I ordered and it is cuddly soft merino. I parted every colour in to four and mixed and matched until I had five blends I liked. Spinning next! 

Forrest Floor

This is the first yarn I have spun on my lovely Kromski Minstrel. It is much smother and the plying both looks better and was a lot more enjoyable. This is pure merino and it is very soft and fluffy, shifting in colour between a grassy and a darker forrest green.

Kromski Minstrel

Look what a lovely machine that is now living in my house!!! It is a Kromski Minstrel Spinning wheel. It arrived in a million little pieces and I had to build it all my self so now I have intimate knowledge about how she works. I started spinning right away, on the slowest speed, it was a bit tricky to get the hang of it, mostly to get the tension right. But what a joy to just sit comfortably peddling away and spinning with your hands in front of you, no more awkward stretching and aches and pains. I assembled it as a double drive, it seemed most logical, maybe Ill try the scotch tension later. She and I have a lot to explore. 

Stitch Markers

Glow in the dark stitch markers! I found these glow in the dark beads long ago during a sale, and I have never really found a good purpose for them, until I started knitting. They make great stich markers, I use a nylon wire in a secured loop so they are 100% snag free. These you can buy at my etsy shop, but I have a set my self too. 

I know I post a lot about etsy right now, but this is what I am doing now, I get into a frenzy and focus on one thing only. Soon my focus will shift onto something else, I am guessing spinning. :)

Beach Umbrella

On the "Day of the Sheep", that was held out here on the islands last week end, I bought this very rustic wool with lots of lanolin and pieces of "nature" still in it. The sheep that it comes from grazes out here in the summer, and I petted them myself, they were very friendly and warm. I mixed the colours with each other and spun it on my spindle, then I plyed it whit just white to get a pronounced "barber pole effect". 

I call this Beach Umbrella.

Frozen peaches

I am totally addicted to this now. I just love this colour, it reminds me of peaches and the deep turquoise of ice. This is quite thin (after my standards anyway) soft and fluffy BFL. Available on Etsy.
