Giveaway nr 2!

You might have noticed that I have been playing around with a scrap-booking program, using pictures and pasting in fun objects and backgrounds. Well, if you haven't, those card thingies is what I am talking about.

I have ben given the opportunity to try out the My Memories Suite 2.0 a scrap-booking program.
I am not a scrap-booker, I usually use a photo-rendering program to play around with photos and make cards. But I have to say, I like it, this is a lot of fun. I kind of got stuck in it, at first my pictures looked kind of wonky, but then I got the hang of it and it was really nice, and there are a lot of helpful tutorials on youtube.
You make your own scrapbooks, photo-books, cards or pictures by choosing a background, photos and embellishments, ad shadows, text and borders. You can also scan in things like tickets or other personal memorabilia. It is very individual and you can decide everything for your self, move around stuff or you can just use one of the templates.
The original package seems a bit limited after a while, but there is lots of free stuff to download, and to buy too of course, if you want that.
I found myself using it for all kinds of fun stuff. I made some display pictures for my rovings, a card for the giveaway, and a postcard that I got printed and sent on via Posten (swedish post) to my family.

And more interesting, I have been given an extra copy of this program to give to one of my readers. Which leads me to:
 "Giveaway nr 2"! :)

This is a $40 program, that is very substantial and complex but easy to use. So if you like to make scrap-books, photo-books, cards and all kinds of fun stuff, go the My Memories site, have a look around, then come back here and tell me in the comments what designer is your favorite, and you will be in the draw to win this fun program! Oh, and it is for both mac and PC, I am using it on a mac.

I am giving you a week on this one too, so on Thursday at midnight the time runs out!

As an added bonus I am allowed to give all my readers, friends and family a 10% discount in the My Memories Store! Not bad, huh.
Just use the promo code: STMMMS35907

Good luck everyone!

My "My Memories" portfolio so far. ;)

Fall

No! It is too soon.
I really like fall, you can use your hand knitted stuff, what is not to like, but I know what comes afterward. If we don't mention it it might not come...
The season "we shall not mention" is horribly long, dark and cold in Sweden. That is why we look so crazy, franticly trying to capture every last sunny day and evening it is ok to barbecue on, because we know what awaits us. Only a swede (or other people "living in way to far up the northern hemisphere" countries) knows.

If the home made cookies are done at half past one in the morning, the baker is allowed to taste them. It is the rule!

Swan Family

We had the joy of running into these swans a few days ago. we were just stopping and stretching our legs and backs because I still have problems with a slipped disc, and can't sit in the car for a long time. This was at the Drottningholm castle where the Swedish royal family live ( yes I live just an island away from the king and queen of Sweden) in the beautiful park that is open for the public, and for swans apparently. Swans are such magnificent animals, and the swan parents had five fuzzy babies, that is a lot for swans. So cute!

Knitting Bags

I am a very good yarn chaos builder, and knitting bags help to keep at least the yarn you are working on in order, but I only have a few bags, actually they are bags that came with clothes from Granit, so I though I would whip up a few using my enormous fabric stash. Here are a few (where did all that yellow come from), already full, I had to make more. :) I used this excellent tutorial that makes a simple bag with professional looking details.
They turned out really cute I think. In the fabric selection you can find a few from IKEA, my older sisters curtains from the eighties and an excellent teacup fabric I once used to make mushroom picking bags out of (with mesh fabric in the middle so you could shake all the pine needles and leaves out of it).
(And yes, I am playing whit a new photo app.)

Car Knitting

I got a bit inspired by the knitmore girls podcast and though I would learn to knit without looking. This is easier than it sounds because if you have been knitting for a reasonable long time, your hands will know what to do on there own. Some of the bonuses with this technique is that you can knit while reading, watching a movie or in my case riding in the car without getting carsick. It worked great actually, I can only do stockinette stitch and it goes slowly so far, but I got a fair amount of knitting done yesterday while going to the in laws and back. I recommend you try it.

Cold enough

Here in Sweden it's now cold enough for hand-knitted socks. Good about the socks not so good about the cold. But it is turning into one of those beautiful sunny crisp autumns. I love autumn, I just don't love the six months of darkness that follows.

Dyeing wool again

Square double pointed needles

I really love these square double pointed needles, great to hold on to, lovely slipperyness, pointy enough and pretty too. They are from kollage yarns and I bought them at limmo design. I think I have to have more of them, oh maybe a good Christmas present. Yes I know it is early, but they have to be ordered! ;)
